Chip Houghton co-founded Imaginary Forces (IF), a multi-disciplinary entertainment and design company based in Hollywood and New York, in 1996. Chip has utilized his background as an executive producer of commercials, film and television main title sequences and digital visual effects to develop IF’s extensive clientele portfolio. His business savvy has helped to steer the company into groundbreaking experience design and has kept IF at the forefront of the design community.

Houghton is committed to pursuing projects that blend disciplines and allow for the convergence of storytelling, branding, advertising and entertainment to create immersive experiences and environments. This has led to successful collaborations with leading architectural firms, filmmakers and movie studios, ad agencies, TV networks, and Fortune 500 businesses.

Notable film and TV credits for IF include the Emmy-winning main titles for “Mad Men”, film titles for “Seven,” “Spider-Man,” “The Number 23,” and “The Pink Panther 2,” re-branding campaigns for USA Network and Spike TV, and commercials for Pepsi, Microsoft, Scion, Smirnoff, and Lexus among many others.

Beyond Imaginary Forces, Houghton applies his design experience into the world of teaching. He currently conducts a Senior Business Seminar at Otis College of Art and Design.

Imaginary Forces has won numerous industry awards under Houghton’s leadership, including top honors from the Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP), The Art Directors Club (ADC), The American Institute of Graphic Artists (AIGA), the D&AD, and The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. In addition, Houghton has been featured in prominent industry publications such as Metropolis, Creativity, and I.D Magazine.
