Computer Graphics 50 / SIGGRAPH 38
Greetings lovers of computer motion graphics and interactive techniques!
Wow, that's a lot to say, just to say hi, isn't it? Well, SIGGRAPH has a lot of working parts. Or should I say computational parts. SIGGRAPH began 38 years ago, and this year, 2010 is also the 50th anniversary of the recorded coining of the term "computer graphics." If computer graphics were a person, they would be having an "over the hill" party, but in this case, as we continually learn, it's just getting started.
I am honored to have been chosen as the Chapter Chair for 2010/2011 and I hope to live up to the challenge. For the Silver Anniversary of CG, my goal as chair is to look at the landscape we have walked through and the landscape that stands before us. The Los Angeles Chapter hopes to offer you a year of programming that frames our past, present and future in this new age of new media.
For those of you who are members of the Los Angeles Chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH, we hope to thrill you with another year of dynamic programming, for those of you who are new or have not yet attend one of our events, we hope to see you at least once and hopefully more often as you are seduced to the digital side a pixel at a time thorough presentations on all that the computer graphics and interactive technology artists, inventors and scientists have to show you.
Sincerely,
Carlye Archibeque, Chair ACM SIGGRAPH Los Angeles
